Thomas Z -- Before It's Gone

It's time to face the harsh reality.

 Nature unfortunately has mortality.

As I walk around and feel the increasing heat.

As I don't hear the birds go "cheap", I accept defeat.

In my town there was a forest abundant with trees.

When I look at it now I feel my heart squeeze.

The air now tastes extremely dry.

All of the flowers have died.

There is no sweet smell of pine sap.

Finally, there, it hits me like a slap.

We’ve had forever to turn things around.

But finally, the ship has run aground.

None of this has happened yet.

However we still have need to fret.

Right now we need to face the truth.

Need to preserve nature for our youth.

Take the people of the next decade into consideration.

Take some time to think about the next generation.

Right now we need to stop climate change.

Otherwise, for our children, the world will be dead and strange.
