Seated on the top of two black cabinets in the right corner of my living room is a black and white Snoopy stuffed animal. A few days ago he was just a toy buried somewhere in my room, but now he means something way more important to me and my family.
This little Snoopy toy is a memorial for my dog Bud, who recently passed away. It is surrounded by kind cards from family and friends, drawings, suncatchers, his collar, tennis balls, and some of his other favorite things. The Snoopy stuffed animal is wearing Bud’s collar. This is very important to me because I’ve had Bud basically since I was a baby. This Snoopy would sell for around $10, but it is worth a lot more to me.
Bud was an amazing brown-haired goldendoodle who just recently died. He was 11 years old when he passed away. He was a 70 pound dog that thought he was a lap dog. He would bark at every one of our neighbors that walked by but he was really just a big scaredy cat that would hide when he heard fireworks on the 4th of July. He could not catch a tennis ball to save his life, and he would always go into the bushes and bury all of the tennis balls. He hated water and loud noises, but loved his family and our food. Bud would always take food and snacks out of little kids hands who were at our house, and he would also eat my sister’s Halloween candy. He was the best dog ever!
Losing Bud has been really hard on me and my family. I miss him a lot. Now, without Bud, an old, dirty stuffed animal has become very important to me. Snoopy was surely going to end up getting donated, but now he has a new life, and I definitely want to keep him around.
